Tapio Wirkkala wall lamps, model C-1646, designed by Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) for Raak Amsterdam in 1964. The lamps are mouth-blown, a technically complex process due to the fragile shape. The design consists of an opal silk matt inner shade, enveloped by an outer shade of smoked grey glass, attached to a bronze-coloured metal fixture. The combination of materials and colours creates a warm and diffused light. Dimensions: h x w x d = 24 x 18 x 23 cm, height from frame 22 cm, jump from wall plate 21 cm, glass diameter 18 cm, weight 2.2 kg per lamp. These lamps can also be used with a cord and plug. Wirkkala, known for his innovative designs in glass and wood, is considered one of the most influential Finnish designers of the 20th century. In the early 1960s, he designed a series of lamps for Raak, including this model. The lamps are documented in Raak catalogue 5 (1962, p. 28) and catalogue 6 (p. 18). In addition, Raak founder Lockhorn confirmed in an article that these sconces were actually designed by Tapio Wirkkala.

These sconces are in very good condition, with minimal signs of use; no cracks, crazing or chips in the glass. The wiring has been checked by an electrician and is functioning properly.

Another advantage is that you can inspect your purchase in real life and take the item with you when you like it. Most of the time we are in the store. Please let us know in advance on the order form, email or telephone. On Friday and Saturday between 13:30 and 17:00 we are in the warehouse. Check our website for exceptions. MARGIN SCHEME, NORMAL VAT (B2B within the EU) AND EXPORT All prices in our webshop are in euro's and VAT included (if applicable). By default we use the margin scheme, a special tax regulation for used goods. All prices are vat included, but there is no vat amount mentioned on the invoice. Outside Europe we use the same prices. To compensate, we don't charge additional payment- and handling costs. Do you have a company with the right to deduct VAT? We can also create normal VAT-quotes and/of invoices. For companies within the Netherlands against 21% vat and for EU companies against  0% btw (an intra-Community supply requires a valid EU VAT-number). The normal vat-quote can be requested via de webshop or the contacttab. For Dutch companies the total amount including vat will be higher, because we will have to calculate and charge vat on the total amount. The vat excluded amount will be lower and makes this opportunity interesting.
