The story of the founders of Ztijl.
establishment
Ztijl was founded in May 2006 as a sole trader by qualified electrician Hans van Son. By starting a web shop in authentic design lighting, he turned his hobby into his job. Within a year the company moved to a warehouse from which not only lighting and accessories, but also vintage furniture are sold. Since 2012 Hans and Renske sell together – as a partnership firm – to customers all over the world.
Ztijl.nl (pronounced Style) stands for vintage design furniture, lighting and accessories from the 20th century Dutch art movement ‘De Stijl’ from the 30s. The Z of Ztijl refers to the famous zigzag chair by Gerrit Rietveld, one of the most famous designers of this movement.
Our products
Our love for design from the 20th century is reflected in the quality of our vintage products. Everything we sell is Ztijl Quality Checked; it is carefully inspected, cleaned and if necessary professionally restored. A qualified electrician has checked the wiring of the lights. Our products are ready for a second life. By recycling used goods, we try to contribute to the society in which we live.
