LAR Armchair by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller, 1970s – C

LAR armchair made of fiberglass designed by Charles & Ray Eames in the 1950’s and made at Herman Miller (Vitra) in the 1970’s. Vitra was licensed with Herman Miller in 1957 and then started producing the Charles & Ray Eames designs. LAR stands for Lounge Height Armchair Rod Base or LAR = Low Armchair Rod Base. The frame is also called “cat’s cradle base”. The seat is made of fiberglass (colour: ochre light) and has a beautiful visible structure. The condition of this armchair is still good with some signs of use and wear; two small cracks at the top of the backrest (not bad for the construction) and a screw under the seat was missing and has been replaced (see photos). Dimensions: h x w x d = 64.5 x 65 x 63 cm, seat height = 31 cm. Marked: with V (on the seat) from Vitra and M (on the rubber) Hermen Miller (see photos).
