HALA

Hala (Hala Nederlandse Lampenfabriek N.V) Zeist was founded Herman Theodoor Jan Anthoin Busquet in 1932 and was among the better lighting shops in the Netherlands. Hala started as an importer of German lamps from the Hannoversche Lampenfabrik. That is also where the name Hala comes from. Busquet was not only a director but also an industrial designer and designed several lamps for Hala. Some of Hala’s classics are: the ‘Hala 144’ desk lamp, various lamps from the ‘Sun series’ and the Hala ‘Pinokkio’ lamp. H.T.J.A. Busquet (1914-1977) worked at Hala until 1955.

Designs from England. Hala made and sold the now famous ‘Herbert Terry & Sons’ desk lamp the ‘Angelepoise’ under licence. They called this one the Hala-Terry No.1. These lamps are based on the muscles in the hip.

Nice to know: Hala also made lamps on commission in the beginning. Source: Hala Zeist price list, 15 March 1932. We are prepared to manufacture any lamp for you as far as we can. When ordering, please send us a drawing or the correct description if possible.
