Artifort easy chair Theo Ruth. Artifort easy chair (model 107) with armrests designed by Theo Ruth for Artifort in ca.1955. In this chair you see the playful and organic style that was very popular in the fifties. Considering its age this vintage chair is still in good condition. The upholstery is not so nicely done (finished) in the past. One of the armrest has some wear (see photos). Material: beech and red / black vinyl. The seat height 41 cm and the seat depth is 50 cm. Theo Ruth was a furniture designer and interior designer; he started working for Wagemans & Van Tuinen in 1936 as a furniture maker. Wagemans & Van Tuinen introduced the brand Artifort in 1928. Theo Ruth was Head of design and development department at Artifort from 1939 t / m 1971. In the 50s he worked with Jacques Wijenberg and French Bergs to modernize Artifort. He also played a key role in the implementation of ideas from other designers.
