Kembo easy chair 302 (orange) with armrests designed by WH Gispen in 1952-1954. The 302 is the first design of W. H. Gispen for Kembo. The design was awarded directly during the Italian Triennale in 1954. This chair is made by Kembo 1991 and considering its age in good condition. At the rear of the backrest is a worn spot (see pictures). Material: steel bar, wood, foam and orange fabric. The seat height is 40 cm and the seat depth is 42 cm. The height of the armrests is 60 cm. Marked: Kembo.
The name Kembo stands for: Kom Eerst Maar Bij Ons (what means: come first to us). With this slogan W.H. Gispen and Ru Meijer started Kembo in the ’50s. W.H. Gispen was all ready known through his work at The Gispen Company. All his design is characterized by a game of lines, shape, and color. This vintage armchair is still in very good condition.
