Pop Art De Wit armchair (model 4014), designed by Toon De Wit in the 1950s. What I like about this armchair is that it is still upholstered in the original black/white Pop Art upholstery of the fifties and sixties. These De Wit chairs are very comfortable to sit in. The seat and back are upholstered in the original black and white vinyl and the upholstery is still in very good condition (see pictures). The seat height is 37 cm. and the seat depth is 47 cm.
This company was founded in Schiedam by two brothers Toon and Martien de Wit (Toon was the designer) and started producing after the Second World War. They made quality tubular furniture (amongst others for Gispen). The company closed its doors in 1977.
