SIS licht

The German company SiS, founded in 1924 by Erich Lang and his father Karl Lang, began as a manufacturer of lighting products such as scissor and table lamps with movable arms. The name SiS is an abbreviation of the original name SIRIUS SCHWEINFURT, inspired by Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. From the beginning, the company focused on mobile workplace lighting and gradually expanded the range to include the now-famous scissor lamps and table lamps.

SiS Leuchten has worked together with several well-known designers. Erich and Karl Lang, the founders, played a crucial role in early designs. For design lovers of vintage SIS lamps, there are some iconic models that are particularly sought-after:

  • SIS Type 50 Desk Lamp: A 1950s Bauhaus-style desk lamp in stony grey or cream with nickel arm and fully swivelling shade.
  • SIS Witch Hat Table Lamp Model 62 : A vintage table lamp with a swan neck from the 1960s, loved for its unique shape and adjustability.
  • SIS Scissor Lamp Model 110/165 : An industrial scissor lamp from the 1940s and 1950s, known for its robust design and flexibility.
