The Dutch furniture factory “Gelderland” was founded in 1936 by Mr. Oberman. The company was called “De Ster” in the beginning. Later the name was changed to “Meubelfabriek Gelderland.” In the beginning they were mainly concerned with simple wooden chairs. Fond of Scandinavian design they chose for angular shapes at a very early stage in the history of modern design. In addition, the foundation was laid for the principle that today is still attached; durability and comfort.
