The originally designer Mathieu Mategot is well-known for the use of perforated metal in furniture, tables, sideboards and other objects. During the 2nd world war he jointed the French resistance. He was captured and came to work in a mechanical factory. At the factory he saw a Bugatti car with perforated metal, which inspired him. After the war he became nationalized (Frenchman) and patented the perforated metal. He started a workshop in Paris for handmade furniture.
