Wall lamp Schelpdier (Shellfish) by Piet Cohen for Raak 1970s

Raak shellfish (schelpdier, model 1608.16) designed by Piet Cohen for Raak, Amsterdam in the 1970s. Particularly beautiful wall lamp, in which the light crawls out of its shell; an exotic crustacean made of cast aluminium with concentrically inside it a second shell behind which the light crawls. Because the shells are not the same size, a beautiful light effect is created. The condition of this wall lamp is still in very good condition considering its age (see photos). The lamp has a normal porcelain socket E27 /Max 75 W. Dimensions: h x w x d = 36 x 16.5 x 14.5 cm. Source: Raak catalogue 9 page 7.

Architect’s chairs by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, 1960s – Set of Three with Grey Ring

Industrial bar stools by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld for Ahrend De Cirkel in the 1960s. These originally architect’s chairs have a metal base and a wooden seat and back (made of birch plywood). The seat is adjustable in height by means of a rotary knob and the backrest is also adjustable. They were originally designed as a drawing table chair or work chair hence they are a bit higher than normal chairs and also have an adjustable footrest (grey ring), which is why they are also often used as bar stools nowadays. Each chair is marked with: Ahrend the Circle. The condition is still good; very sturdy and solid with normal wear from use. Material: metal, chromed metal and birch plywood. Dimensions: h x w x d = 109 x 49.5 x 49 cm. The seat height is adjustable from 56.5 to 71.5 cm and the seat width is 39 cm. The price is for the set of three chairs. Also available individually.

Pair of Folding chairs with Armrests by Ahrend De Cirkel, 1960s

Rare set of 2 folding chairs with armrests designed by the Ahrend De Cirkel Design Team. The design was derived from Friso Kramer’s folding theatre chairs, which in turn were derived from the famous Revolt chair in 1959. Like Friso Kramer’s theatre chairs, these are not only foldable but also linkable and stackable. Besides the many similarities, there are also some differences. Because these chairs were upholstered (with red fabric), they have a wooden seat and back instead of a ciranol seat and back (as with the Revolt folding chairs). The condition is still good with normal signs of use; we have restored, sanded and varnished the seat, back and armrests so that they will last for years. In some places you can still see the holes of the staples in the wood where the fabric was attached. Dimensions: h x w x d = 76 x 61 x 55 cm. The seat height is 43 cm and the armrest height is 65 cm. Marked: Ahrend the Circle (see photo). Source: book Friso Kramer, page 93. The price is for the set, if necessary we can also sell them separately. Collectors item, hard to find!
